Wayne M. Pharr, OD, FAAO, FCSO, is a third generation Optometrist. After graduation from the Illinois College of Optometry receiving his BS and OD degees, he then served three years in the U.S. Navy and as a consultant to the Naval Training Device Centers in Vision research, he entered private practice in Okeechobee, Florida. Later he practiced in Orlando, Florida, where he limited his practice to exclusively Vision Therapy.
He has lectured nationally and internationally on new instrumentation and techniques, especially in Electrodiagnosis and has authored articles on Vision Care that have appeared in national professional journals. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry with their preceptor and intern training program. He often speaks to parents, teachers, and professional groups on the need of proper vision care and NeuroVisuopathy(Vision Therapy).
At the present time he is extensively involved in lecturing, consulting, research, and development of new visual therapy instrumentation, protocols and techniques with special application to learning disabilities, sports vision, and the multiple handicapped such as Traumatic Brain Injuries. He has designed and developed an Optometric based process, termed NeuroVisuopathy. By combining this with Behavioral Optometry and Vision Therapy, it can yield a higher integrated level of diagnosis and treatment in a much shorter period of time.
